November Activities- Details

 November activities in more detail:

  • Rainbow song: Ms.Rachel on YouTube. Made a rainbow with just the 7 colored crayons out so that he could pass me the right color.
  • Wiggle and Giggle song (Preschool Learn to Dance: Wiggle and Giggle- Dance 'n Beats Lab)
  • Animal movements- crawl like a snake, walk on arms like crab, hop like bunny, jump like frog, slouch and walk like a bear, stomp around like dinosaur. Ended each one in tickles to stay interested!
  • Memorial Day Poppy song: The Kiboomers
  • For pumpkin dough just added pumpkin puree to whole wheat flour and kneaded. Cannot store this though.
  • Poppy making- cut out a large poppy in paper and gave rounded sketch pens to color.
  • Gave him a colored paper, spray bottle, a cotton ball and some flour. Idea was to spray a little water on paper and then dab the cotton ball with flour on it. But became just him doing his own thing.
  • Touch the body parts- I used bubbles as reward to keep him interested. I have also tried a variation where I say show me foot and blow bubbles onto his foot. Bubbles in any way is a winner!
  • Kindness song (Let's Be Kind- London Rhymes on YouTube)
  • Open shut them song (Ms. Rachel on YouTube)
  • Apple shakers- two paper plates- we stuck them with cello tape, left an opening to fill chickpeas in (raw) and then shut the opening. Shake them. Can also color the paper plates.
  • Moon and stars- took a black construction paper and had star stickers and a moon cut out to stick.
  • Left and Right song- Hokey Pokey song from Super Simple Songs
  • Superheroes- Tried putting a towel as a cape on him and flying him like an airplane. Also tried to get him to crawl on walls like spiderman with me moving him across the walls.
  • I am special song (YouTube- Amulya Kids)
  • Girl boy song- Used 'This is up song' from Ms Rachel on YouTube and replaced up and down with boy and girl. Had a hat to put on him when we sang 'this is boy' and flipped the hat on my head when we sang 'this is girl'. Sang it slow and fast, faster, fastest!
  • Matching shapes/colors to pictures- Had a print out of shapes/ colors and got things from around the house/cut out from cardboard for him to give me to match.
  • Pair socks- Have just 3-4 pairs with different colors to match.
  • Mitten painting- just a cutout of mittens to color. We also played with trying mittens going on other body parts like head, ears, feet - silly play.
  • Sea creature sensory play- Rice in blue food dye. Mine stains though so I did have some color remains on his and my hands for 2-3 days afterwards. Hid pictures of sea creatures in it for him to dig out. Gave an extra glass and spoon.
  • Fish color match- used Goldfish snacks that come differently colored.
  • Animals pretend play- had some plastic animals that I placed in water in an ice cube tray and froze. So we “rescued” the animals by pouring water on ice cubes in a dropper/spoon/sprayer.
  • Slime- I used corn starch and water 1:2. But this didn’t turn out as expected. It was very watery but he still had fun given an extra spoon and bowl pouring it from one bowl to another.
  • Jello making- we had a tray with different animal shapes and he helped me pull them out of the tray once set.
  • Stop and Go- Just shouting Ready, Set, Go and running with him from end of hall to another and then shouting stop.
  • Dance Party Freeze song on YouTube from Kiboomers.
