May Activities in detail!
- Planting flowers: I had him plant a seed just to show a plant eventually but we also did plastic flowers in pots too.
- Powder play: This was just a baking tray on which I sprinkled Johnson and Johnson powder generously so that we traced letters and shaped in it with our fingers.
- Go/ Stop with Box: Initially I let him sit in a cardboard box and I pushed him around when he'd say Go! Then we put a soft toy into the box for him to push it around.
- For Song jar I use a set of pictures to imitate actions of for 'If you're happy and you know it'.
- Painter's tape and food: We have some pretend play items that I taped onto the play mat for him to find and uncover.
- For Mother's day there is a beautiful Malayalam poem that we recited together and also made a hand print card.
- Sponge painting: Tie a band in the middle of the sponge and paint on it generously so that kids can pat it down on paper to print out a butterfly!
- Straw bubbles: We used juice and soda mix for this because I wasn't sure he would not drink.
- Pair socks: We stick to 4 pairs of socks mixed together for him to pick matching patterns/colors.
- Counting game with dice: Toss the dice and jump/hop the number of times the dice says! We took turns too.
- Scissors craft: We cut a flower out of paper, picture in the gallery. He only had to cut straight lines along a drawn pattern.
- Crayons: We tried imitating lines like I, L, +, and O.
- Button play was to try unbutton a large shirt I made a teddy wear and so "rescue" it. Was tough though!
- For opposites game we tried an opposites song and laid out a few big and small (cars), tall and short (bottles) of the same object to label and pick.
- Under/ between/ on: I taped letters on to plastic animals and chairs so that he could search under/between/on them.
- Hop and Jump games was basically obstacle course with pillows that we took turns with.
- What color is it- we did an 'I spy version' for colors.
- Bubble wrap art: I stuck bubble wrap around a bottle and put some color on it so that he could roll it back and forth, up and down on paper. The darker color will dominate but he had fun!
- Hop in the grocery bag was literally that, we took turns hopping standing in a grocery bag. Safe if you do it slow!
- Salt craft: I drew a butterfly in glue and we spread some salt on it. I gave him a little pink salt so that part he enjoyed. I had seen a video of then dabbing the salt in color but that didn't turn out as expected, maybe we should wait after it dries.
- Ball and cardboard: I just cut out a small circle in the middle of a cardboard box for him to try get a ball through the hole. Picture attached in gallery.
